Creating a Safe Space for Courageous Conversations

Creating a safe space requires becoming a safe person. Courageous conversations can be messy… Yet, growth is on the other side. Dr. Johnny Parker shared this with me and it was so good I wanted to pass it on!

Some key points

✔️ Humility and Honor
What are my intentions?
Am I willing to honor others who have a different view from mine?

✔️ Empathy
Am I willing to view the situation from a different perspective?
Am I willing to ask what you want me to hear that I’m not hearing?

✔️ Awkward
Am I willing to be curious and lean into the awkward?

✔️ Receptive
Am I willing to be more interested in hearing your story rather than insist that you hear my story?

✔️ True & Trust
Am I willing to build (or rebuild) trust by believing the best about your heart?
Am I willing to be slow to speak by asking three questions- Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Join me next week for Part 2! I’ll be talking about how to use this information to have courageous conversations

Get to know me!

My name is John Ramstead and I’m a former Navy combat fighter pilot, serial entrepreneur, and survivor of a near-fatal accident.  Flying F-14s taught me that if you veer off course just one degree you can end up hundreds of miles away from your destination. To successfully accomplish your mission you need two things; Your true north and a flight plan. My passion is being your wingman to guide you through the exact process to create the life you know you are meant to live.
